Frankly Speaking

We write with the words of a song ringing in my head, “God is so good, God is so good, God is so good, He’s so good to me (us).” We truly are a blessed people and a blessed church. On Easter Sunday God blessed us with 663 in worship attendance which is our all-time high attendance for any Worship Service in our church. Praise the Lord! On Mother’s Day we had 454 which was really good also. On May 5th our Gideon speaker, Les Dozier, gave an excellent report on the Gideon Ministry. Our offering was $1,828.50 which will purchase 1,523 Bibles for distribution in 200 countries. Hallelujah! In his thank you note, Bro. Les stated that of all the churches where he has spoken, RHBC “is one of the friendliest congregations [he and his wife] have had the privilege to meet.” To God be the Glory! We want to compliment you, our Church Body, for a job well done!

As of May’s Body Life meeting, we have paid $786,764.79 in 17 months on our loan principal for our sanctuary. That is unbelievable in this day and age. From the bottom of my heart, “thank you” for being such a loving, friendly, and giving church. I still believe that we will pay off our loan amount within 5 years of our first payment! Thank you Jesus!

It is not too late to sign up for our Missions Journey, June 9th-15th. If you have never been on a Missions Journey let me tell you from personal experience that it will really change your life. We could use a few more people to help us with the Vacation Bible School this year. Please prayerfully consider going with our team. We promise that you will receive a blessing from going plus you will experience giving yourself away in ministry which will produce pure joy in your Christian life. If finances are a problem, please let Bro. Scott Warren or me know and we will get you a scholarship sponsor. If you have any questions, please see Bro. Scott, our Missions Leader, and he will give you details about that week.

We did our first “Outreach Blitz” this past Saturday in our neighborhood. We had 9 teams of 2 knocking on doors and looking for church prospects. We heard of some really good contacts with people who said they are looking for a church home and would try RHBC soon. Our next “Outreach Blitz” will be THIS Thursday, May 30th, at 6:30 PM. It only takes about an hour and we will team you up with a seasoned veteran of Outreach Ministry. If you can walk 4 blocks then you can do this. Our Jerusalem is our neighborhood! Jesus said this to His disciples in Luke 14:23: “Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that My house may be filled.” In the Great Commission Jesus tells us to Go! Most people are not going to just come to our church. The absolute, most effective invitation is from a 1-on-1 visit. It is connecting with church prospects and showing them we really care about them and their families. Would you please prayerfully consider coming to this extremely important “Outreach Blitz” for our Lord and His church? We promise you that you will be glad you did.

We want to let you know that we do listen to your voice on all issues in our Church. There has been concern with the way we have been serving the Lord’s Supper. Bro. Steve and I along with the Deacon Body wanted to try the portable packets because they are more sanitary, are easier to distribute, and take less time. We in no way thought it would take away from one of the most solemn and sacred worship times that we have. After much discussion, we have decided that it would be best to go back to our old way of serving the Lord’s Supper. We are very sorry if it caused any hurt or ill feelings for anyone. Please forgive us because I promise you that was not our intention. Let’s just put the past behind us and look forward to our next Lord’s Supper that will be served in our traditional way. Thank you for sharing your hearts with us and we look forward to serving
you in the future. We, as a church body and family, cannot let anything take away from our church fellowship and the spirit of unity among us. Thank you for understanding!

We have, as usual, an extremely busy summer schedule of ministries on our church calendar. Be sure to check this Newsletter, our Sunday bulletins, and our church website for important dates and information about this summer’s activities. If there is anything we can help you with or if you have any prayer requests, please feel free to call the church office.
We love each and everyone of you and thank God for your faithfulness to Him and His church. May God bless you and your family. We hope to see you this Sunday. We have two more sermons from the Book of John on Sunday mornings and will continue in our “Spiritual Warfare” series on Sunday nights.

In Christ,
Michael Franklin
