Frankly Speaking

Dear Church Members,

Isn’t it wonderful when God decides to give us one of those WOW days! On Aug. 20th we had a sweet couple join the church in the 8:30 service. In the 11:00 service we saw 2 professions of faith and a nice family of 4 join the church. That is 8 decisions on one Sunday morning! All I can say is to God be the glory, great things He has done. On August 13th, we had 262 in Sunday School. Unbelievable! That means we had 73% of the people in Worship attendance in Sunday School. The last average I have seen in Southern Baptist work is 40%. I thank God that we have such an awesome Sunday School crowd, some great teachers, and classes that are close knit and minister to one another in such a mighty way. God is so good ALL the time!

We had an amazing Body Life Meeting this past Sunday Night. Mrs. Juanita shared with us that for the month of July our “surplus over budget” was over $38,000.00. Thank you, Lord! The Finance Committee recommended we transfer $100,000.00 from the General Fund to the Growth Fund. Twice this year we have made similar transfers of $50,000.00. That means in 2017 we have transferred a total of $200,000.00 from the General Fund to the Growth Fund. Can I get a Hallelujah? I truly believe, with all my heart, that within the 5-year loan on our Building balance our new Worship Center will be paid for.

Please pray with me that this prayer will be answered and God will get the glory. Bro. Ronnie shared that the Building is coming along right on time and right on budget! Praise the Lord! This is not normal in most cases, but we do serve a great BIG God! Since most of the work from here on will be inside, we should have our first service the first Sunday in November. I hope you realize that November is just a little over 2 months away. Everyone I talk to is so excited about our new Worship Center; plus, everywhere I go people are asking me about it. The lighthouse and the cross lit-up really stand out at night. With plenty of room to grow, it will be such a blessing to begin doing our best to fill this Sanctuary for God’s glory and having us all together in one Worship Service.

We also voted on the Youth Minister Search Committee in the Body Life Meeting. The following people have agreed to serve on this committee: Tony McCutcheon, Carla England, Janine Chitty, Ramona Humphrey, Jerry Wisdom, Carl Schneider, and Faith Walker. Please be praying for God’s perfect will to be done regarding this very important staff position. So far, we have had 2 resumés submitted. We are praying for at least 5 to be received. We hope to begin interviewing candidates within the next few weeks.

We do want to thank everyone who has helped in the Bible teaching of our youth and kept the youth activities and fellowships going. We truly thank God for the strong parent and grandparent support in our Youth Ministry!

Bro. Scott Warren is doing an amazing work as our Missions Leader. We had a very successful Mission Journey last month. We have three opportunities for serving in September and October. One will be sponsored by the Local Association and another will be led by our State Convention. Please pray about which one you want to attend; you can do both if you want. We are also excited about another training session of “Sharing Jesus Without Fear” this October. Bro. Scott and Bro. Chris Trager will be team-teaching this on Sunday nights. Our prayer is that eventually all our Leadership Team members and our lay persons will be trained in this extremely

important outreach and discipleship arm of the church. This is a place where you can really put our 2017 theme of Invite and Engage to work for the Kingdom of God. Please prayerfully consider being committed to this next outreach and evangelism training for God’s glory!

My health is steadily improving. I am off all medications for my lung illness now, and my lungs are all clear! I have started using a CPAP machine to sleep at night. This should help my lung capacity and retrain my lungs. I still have not been fully released yet, but hopefully I will be after my next Doctor’s appointment on September 5. I thank God for all the men that have preached on Sunday nights for me. Please keep praying for a 100% recovery so I can start preaching on Sunday nights in September.

I hope you have enjoyed our “Baptist Faith and Message” series as much as I have enjoyed preaching it. Starting the Sunday after Labor Day, September 10, I will begin a new series entitled “Mountain Top Experiences.” We will walk through the Bible looking for Mountain Top Experiences in preparation for getting into our new Worship Center. God really has done a fantastic work in our church and we just “Praise Him” and give HIM the glory for everything He has done. Never in a million years did we think we would be where we are after 13½ years of ministry at Rye Hill Baptist Church! I thank God that He has allowed me to be a small part of His great work on the south side of Fort Smith. Thank you so much for your strong prayer support and faithfulness to God’s church! Please keep your eyes on Jesus, your face in His Holy Word, and look for ways to minister to the lost and hurting. I love every one of you and I am so proud to be your Senior Pastor.

May God bless you and your family.

In Christ,
Michael Franklin
