Frankly Speaking

Dear Church Member,
It has been such a blessing to be back in the pulpit the last two weeks! Being sick for twelve weeks was certainly a challenge and having to stay home most of the time was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. I am feeling much better now but Dr. Meade doesn’t want me to over-do it with a full working and preaching schedule until I see him again on July 6. I am still on prednisone and we are building up my immune system again. I want to thank our Deacons that have been visiting the hospitals for me while Bro. Steve was on vacation. They have really done a great job covering for me until I get totally well. I also appreciate our men that have been doing Sunday and Wednesday evenings for me. Bro. Steve Stewart, Bro. Terry Russell, Bro. Scott Warren and Bro. Chuck Chitty. So many have told me how much they enjoy these men filling in for me. I truly believe God is going to completely heal me and that when I go back to Dr. Meade I will be completely released to my normal schedule for preaching and visiting. Thanks again for being so understanding during this trying time in my life. You will neve know how much your prayers and support encouraged my family and I, to just keep trusting God and get better.

Have you seen the progress of our new Worship Center lately? Wow! Is it coming along great and it is hard to believe that they are 2/3’s of the way to completion. Praise God we are still right on time and on budget! God is so good, all the time! Several have asked me if we are going to open the building anytime soon for a “sneak peek”. After speaking to Ronnie Keener and Travis Brashear the answer is “Yes!” On Sunday July 9th, we will let people walk through the new Sanctuary upon three conditions. First, you will have to sign a waiver agreeing that Brashear Construction Company is not responsible for anything that might happen during the preview look. Second, they will only open it up after the 11:00 a.m. service so we can all view at the same time. Third, children 12 and under must be with their parents/grandparents at ALL times. These rules are for our protection and for insurance purposes. Please promise us and the Lord that you will agree to these conditions if you choose to come that day. We cannot tell you how excited we are for this God-given addition to our church and the growth potential we feel like is coming in the years to come. I hope you can be here that day to rejoice with us and to get that “first look” at our New Worship Center!

We have an amazing opportunity of foreign missions coming to us in an upcoming Missions Journey, July 10-14. Bro. Scott has been working on this new mission endeavor for months now. God is allowing us to minister to an unreached people group that has landed in the Southwest Fort Worth area. We don’t have to spend thousands of dollars going overseas and we can partner with a church, on the ground, that is already ministering to them. We still need more help in our Bible School time. We also need a cook to go and lead out in meal preparation so others can do the VBS and outreach ministry. You will have helpers with the meals but, you will be responsible for feeding 12-15 people daily. Please see Bro. Scott if you can help us with either of these vital ministries on this new and exciting journey for our Lord Jesus Christ. We hope to be able to eventually go to this mission field three times a year because of the closeness (not 16 hours away) and at a much smaller cost. We always want to be good stewards of God’s money as we fulfill the Great Commission in our church.

I want to thank everyone for the many birthday cards, sweet words of encouragement, gift cards, cash and the generous gift the church gave me for my 59th birthday. I have never received so many cards during my sickness or for my birthday. Each and everyone of them meant so much to Lori and me. They always seem to come at a time when I needed them most. You are truly an amazing, loving, and caring people that takes wonderful care of people when they are sick or in need! I am very proud to be your pastor and we hope that God allows Bro. Steve and myself to stay right here until we retire or the Lord comes back. I absolutely LOVE my call to the ministry and enjoy coming to work every day. Your faithfulness during these last three months is a testimony of your love for the Lord and your love for His Church! From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU for being an Acts 2, New Testament Church. I love each and everyone of you and thank God daily for your love, concern and friendship! May God bless you and your family. Hope to see you this Sunday in church with some of the greatest people in the world!

In Christ,
Michael Franklin
