Frankly Speaking

Dear Church Member,
What an awesome Harvest Blessing Day we had as a church! I wish you could have been on the platform to see what I was allowed to see on this special Sunday. We set out extra chairs in anticipation of a huge crowd, but our ushers had to set out even more chairs to accommodate even more people. Bro. Steve, the Praise Team, and choir did an outstanding job leading us in Praise and Worship! Our members did an excellent job inviting family and friends to join us for this special day of Thanksgiving celebration. There were literally guests and visitors all over the place. I saw members giving up their seats for guests. Hallelujah! The Holy Spirit was strong and everyone was truly engaged in Worship. Praise the Lord! From the bottom of my heart, I want to say “Thank You!! to everyone that helped make this such a special day in the life of our church. From the set-up to the clean-up, it was a total team effort! Our Kitchen Committee, led by Carla England, did a fantastic job preparing and serving a delicious meal for around 450 people in about 22 minutes. They worked so hard for two days to make everything wonderful. Our Decorations Committee did an outstanding job also. Everything looked beautiful and what about those pumpkin carvings from Thuan Tran? She does amazing work! You do not know how much it does my heart good to see total cooperation making a HUGE task like this go so smoothly! To God be the glory, great things He has done through His sweet people!

Isn’t it wonderful to see dirt moving and progress being made on our new 775 seat sanctuary! The estimated time for construction is 9 to 12 months. That means there is a good possibility that we will be worshipping in our new sanctuary this time next year. How cool is that? They have graveled the north parking lot for our use while they work on the building pad. You can use the back entrance to get there. Please continue to be understanding and patient with the construction process. A spirit of cooperation and love is so important in times like these. We do not want to do anything to hinder growth or the Spirit of God working in our midst during construction. I promise you, when all is done, we will have more room to minister to people with our new sanctuary and the remodeling of our current sanctuary for Sunday School space. Please continue to pray for this special transitional time in the life of our church.

Our Widows/Widowers Ministry got kicked off with an awesome luncheon. If you did not receive a card about this event, please notify the church office; we want to get all of our widows/widowers on the mailing list. We apologize if we accidently missed anyone. We are excited to see what God is going to do through this wonderful ministry. We are in the process of assigning visitation teams which will visit assigned widows/widowers once every three months. A forthcoming letter will provide contact numbers of transportation and maintenance leaders. We hope to have everything up and running by January 1, 2017. I truly believe after we get the ball rolling on this ministry, we will be a true Acts 2 New Testament Model Church! Thank You Jesus!

I will not say a lot about it because Bro. Scott Warren will cover it in his article, but let me encourage you to participate in two great mission opportunities in the next two weeks. On Sunday night, December 4, our Missions Committee will be sharing a movie entitled The Insanity of God. Then on Sunday, December 11, they will host a Missions Luncheon at noon to help fund a new missions project in Dallas, Texas. I really appreciate all that Bro. Scott and our Missions Committee is doing to lead us to be a Mission-Minded Church. Your support and presence at these two events will be much appreciated. We are excited about what God is going to do through Missions in 2017!

December is a very busy and wonderful time in the life of our church. Please keep your newsletter and Sunday bulletins handy so you can know all that is going on in the life of our church.

From the Franklin house to yours, we hope you have a very “Merry Christmas” and remember that ‘Jesus is the Reason for the Season’! We love and appreciate everyone of you! May God Bless.

In Christ,
Michael Franklin
